SBU Midterm Report: March Though SBU started this report, they never finished it.

SBU (Students of Bayan Union)

End of Year Report

Letter from the President and Officers to the Stockholders:

Chief Executive Officer:

Dear Shareholders,

As you all know, SBU is a student built and run company. SBU participated in K-Business, which is connected to Al-Bayan Bilingual School. For the past year the company SBU has taken your money and used it to start our production line of "Bother Buddies." It has been a successful product, but unfortunately it hasn’t yielded the expected results. As you will notice, our stock value has dropped. We had many opportunities to go and sell, but the problem is that we couldn’t because every time we produced, it was all sold out, which is a good thing. As a first trial for the K-Business, we did respectably well compared with the other companies.

Please read the officer reports below for some details.

Zeinab Hassan

Chief Financial Officer:

CFO Report

Since the beginning of January, the company of SBU (Student Business Union) started producing and selling products. The time of production and selling started from the beginning of January until the last week of April. Unfortunately, as the CFO of the company, I have to announce that the company has witnessed a loss of 67.64 Kuwaiti Dinars. As the CFO I can conclude that the main reason for this loss that we had a problem with our production. The company did not produce enough goods which were the "Stress Buddies" to cover our total expenses. The income the company has received from creating the "Stress Buddies" is 118.8 Kuwaiti Dinars and our total expense was 180 Kuwaiti Dinars. Our expenditures included raw materials, wages, and the sponsor fee. The company started with an owner’s equity of 240 Kuwait Dinars. The funds that will be returned to the stockholders is 7.03 Kuwaiti Dinars.

Saoud Al-Sabah

Vice President of Human Resources:

We began the K-Business activity when we were a big company that had more than 17 students. However, after a short period of time, the SBU became a small company. Since then there were no unexcused absences and lateness except for a really little amount by Bo Waleed 9aida, which is not even more than 7 absences. Also, our employees though not paid until for extra hours, still worked extra hours as the several times when we sold our product in Sultan Center.

Khaled Al-Bader

Corporate Secretary:

Due to the departure of the Corporate Secretary, the CEO, CFO, and I handled all transactions regarding stock liquidation and redemption. The CEO maintained the stock records.

Dr. Daniel R. Fruit

Chief Information Officer (CIO):

It was an exciting extra curricular activity that I participated in. I had a hard time getting the information and structure of the site. As you know from the March report [not published], I didn't receive the sufficient information to establish a site. Even though I couldn't one, I helped others manufacture the stress balls. I also suggested selling the candy to increase our profits. Furthermore I came to Sultan Center to sell the stress balls.

Mohammad Al-Fahed

Marketing Manager:

I researched what kind of people would buy our product, and I found our target buyers. Furthermore, I found out where they would go and made sure we sold our product in those specific areas, such as shopping malls on weekends, where most people in Kuwait would go. This increased our profit because more people bought our product.

After researching I found that the best place to sell our product would be in the Sultan Center in Sharq mall. This was very successful, and we managed to sell our entire product. Once we went to Sultan Center in Sharq to sell our product, we realized that we have sold our entire production. We sold mostly to children and teenage boys, who were our target customers. So after a huge success, we thought it would be best to return to Sharq a second time and sell the product there, and again it was a huge success.

Yasmeen Hayat

Purchasing Manager:

As a purchase agent of my company, I provided my company with what they needed to make the product. I got the materials that my company asked for, which they thought that were the best to manufacture our product. I learned that the better the materials, the better the finished product, and the more we sold for a higher price. My job was easy to do, as all of our materials were easy to buy, even for our "secret formula" for the Bother Buddies.

Manayer Al-Musallam

In Conclusion:

I truly believe that if this company were given more time to produce as well as more opportunities to sell then we would have increase our stock returns

Yours Sincerely,

Zeinab Hassan
