At the most recent KSAA Event held at the American School of Kuwait. I had an officer position. I was the Chair of the Human Rights commission... My commission was described as the most United Nations like forum. We had serious debates going on and we had good times. We managed to pass 7 out of 8 debated resolutions. # of the passed resolutions was from BBS. BBS had only 2 officer positions at KSAA. It was me in the HR commission, and Zaid al marzooq acting as vice president of the Security Council. Our Emergency updates were entertaining. The event was well organized this year. Also we had a national anthem competition going on during the event. We had 3 delegates who sand different anthems. All in all it was a good event with great officers. During the event in general the other chairs were hated due to the fact that they were handing out warnings as if they were candy bars. I was the only chair who only gave 2 warnings during the whole event. My Co chair was from ASK her name was Adriana and she was a junior. We both had a good time charring the HR commissions as I believe we had the largest commission at the event. We had different levels of delegates participating, but the best and most outstanding delegates were from BBS and ASK.

San Marino
Najeeba Hayat-HR-Ambassador

Bongiorno presidente de Serenissima Republicca de San Marino. I am the ambassador of our peaceful nation , San Marino, (Click San Marino to read the officer's briefing book) in the United Nations, my name is Najeeba Hayat and we had dinner at your palazzo that other night, I am sure I am not yet forgotten. Signore, I would like humbly to mention my achievements and complications in his latest General Assembly. We started on Tuesday by lobbying and merging. My resolution on the topic of combating the terrible problem of human trafficking in Eastern Europe targeted all aspects of this pressing issue. Apparently, the approval panel, even after reviewing and correcting small formatting errors, decided that the resolution was too long (it was not) and that the formatting was wrong and perhaps it was too "complicated". I apologize, mar. President, I thought I was dealing with people who were slightly more competent and planned my resolution accordingly; many apologies. The lobbying and merging, on the other hand, went very well, many were convinced about the effectiveness of such an all-encompassing resolution and many delegations were convinced to stay on even after reconsideration and bullying by other, much larger, groups. On Wednesday, resolutions were debated in the Human Rights commission and many were passed but I believe many valid points and debates were brought up by me and our small country was effectively brought into greater recognition by all Human Rights commission and GA delegates. On the third day, San Marino was not called on at all to speak for or against or in open debate but nonetheless, excellent questions were asked in two points of information. At the end of the conference, the delegation of San Marino was recognized as one of the most prominent and enthusiastic delegation in the forum. Thank you for this opportunity, Mr. President for representing our small, yet wonderful nation and finally putting it back on the map. Grazie.

Statements of the Delegates
Munira Al-Jouan, Ambassador and Social says: Welcome from Sri Lanka, (Click Sri Lanka to read the officer's briefing book) the land of ethnic and religious diversity. We were gathered there to find solutions to the many problems that our world has been suffering from. From poverty to AIDS to earthquakes, our world has been through a lot. Sri Lanka has been torn by a bloody civil war between our government and the Tamil Liberation Tigers who want to cause more chaos into our UNITED country. They want to divide our country and turn brothers and sisters against each other. Sri Lanka also has been suffering from natural disasters including the tsunami that was caused by the earthquake in the Indian Ocean. But, Sri Lanka still remains a breathtaking country with our tropical forests and beaches. Our rich cultural heritage shines through even in the hardest of times. Today, we hope to find a solution to our problems, national or international. We are the representatives of different corners in the world but we can make this happen. Aaybovan, Thank you for letting me represent Sri Lanka!
Fawaz Al-Khalid, Disarmament
Dear Mr. President, I Fawwaz AL Khaled, would like to thank you for creating and adding the major ingredient into our country, in which you added the ingredient of justice. Where Sri Lanka is starting to recover from what is used to have. With a great person like you, we can have a better world for Sri Lanka and its people. As for the accomplishments I have done, they are not as great as yours, but they can resemble the people of Sri Lanka in a great way. At last, our problems have been showed to the people, and they are discussed. We are wishing to have the Sri Lanka dream to be a reality, in which, we would like to have the civil war end, and have our children grow in a healthy and loving environment, where I discussed in the Disarmament commission. I have also thought of talking about the arms in space. Many countries fear this, including Sri Lanka. Even though we know that this is the MODEL UNITED NATIONS, not the UNITED NATIONS, but every good change needs a small beginning to end as a big one. I am a Kuwaiti, but after learning about Sri Lanka and about the people of Sri Lanka, I really feel their sorrow pain, and in grieve for them, I moan the pain of thousands to the outer world, and Finally, I would like to encourage many Sri Lanka "kids" or "guys" to speak in front of many and many people, to show the whole entire world what Sri Lanka is, or at least was in the old Days. Sri Lanka is a world of discoveries for a scientist, and a world of supremacy to me. I proudly holler
Sarah Al-Sayer, Environment
Dear Mr. President: Rice is a really heavy use of water and is the basic food of the people and the island's principal crop. More acreage is devoted to the cultivation of rice than to any other crop. Mostly cultivated for private consumption, vegetables are grown in small amounts. Sugar, wheat, and rice are imported in considerable quantities. Animal husbandry is of comparatively little importance to the economy of Sri Lanka. The island contains about 1.6 million cattle, 896,000 buffaloes, 503,000 goats, and 9 million chickens. Pigs and sheep are also raised.Dalal Al-Jassim, Human Rights
Dear Mr. President: My name is Dalal Al Jassim, and I was the honorable representative of the beautiful country of Sri Lanka in the United Nations conference 2006. I was the delegate of Sri Lanka in the Human Rights commission. The event, which happened to take place in Kuwait, was a very memorable experience in which I was able to accomplish many tasks. I was able to become a main submitter and to pass the resolution on our destructive issue of protecting the rights of women and children regarding the abuse by soldiers in armed conflict with an overwhelming majority. I would also like to inform you that my co-submitter, the honorable delegation of Mexico, was a great helping hand which gathered many allies and nations to sign on to our effective resolution during lobbying and merging on the first day. After my resolution was passed on Day 2 of the conference, Sri Lanka was praised for its great efforts in solving the issue and given excellent recognition as a nation who truly deserves to be a part of the UN. However, on the 3rd day, when it was time for the General Assembly, I found out that my resolution was not being debated because it was "too good", according to the most-esteemed chair of the Human Rights Commission. I humbly accepted this disclosure and put forth all my efforts in debating other issues and resolutions. I believe that I was able to portray a great image of our peaceful nation, and accomplished the most important goal: achievement, of both recognition and solving a threatening issue in our world today. Finally, I would like to express my appreciation for providing me with such a chance in an event like this one. I hope I get another chances of representing my country in future conferences and wonderful events. Thank you and regards from: Dalal Al Jassim

Statements of the Delegates
Dana Khader, Co-Ambassador and Disarmament:
Bonjour honorable president of France (Click France! to read the officer's briefing book) ! It's an honor for me to be writing to you today, the co-ambassador of France from the KSAA event. As a France delegate I was the main submitter for the disarmament forum for the issue about arms race in space. France doesn't want to stop because it is one of the P% countries as I have researched. As a France's delegate we were all aggressive and at the same time giving the impression as of a peaceful country. In the GA we talked more than once against all resolutions and gave lots of points of information. Going against resolutions is what France does. It's an honor to be representing France as a country and defending it and realizing the love and French kisses that are on the ground of France and under the skies of the one and only. VIVA LA FRANCE... Merci pour ton temps Dana Khader
Laila Arafet, Environment
Mr. President: My name is Laila Arafeh. I represented France at this conference. This has been an unforgettable experience. I am not the type of person that can stand in front of a crowd and defend my point of view. However, I did more than that. The first day didn't go as well as I thought it would. I forgot to print a copy of my resolution, and ended up being a co-submitter of a guy (Poland) that has been in MUN for 2 years. I went back and convinced the other delegates that I should be main because my resolution is better written and I included sources etc. (even though I knew I am not able to be main and I that I wouldn't be able to answer points of information)... so they chose me to be main instead of Poland, and he ended up being co-submitter (and he was not happy about that). When I went up to make my first speech, I was extremely nervous, but after that I kept raising my placard and I wanted to speak the whole time. My last speech was good and I convinced more people to vote... but it failed by 2 votes (then i motioned to divide the house and it failed by only one vote---> because of the ASK people). In the GA, France had a lot of things to say to attach the resolutions, but they only chose us once for a point of inf.
Sarah Shaheen, Human Rights
Bonjour most respected president of wonderful France: I was very proud to be representing France at the Human Rights Commission. It was a great honor for me to represent France and I was up to the position. I was a main-submitter and passed my resolution with an overwhelming majority. It was a great resolution and I was proud to keep my country where it should be: at the top. I learned that defending my country was the most important step and was proud to be recognized as one of the strongest delegates in my commission. I learned a lot during this great experience and especially to be a powerful delegate to get to where our country wants. One of my best experiences at the KSAA event was the ability to convince people that France is one of the best delegations of all and especially of the P5 countries. I was proud to pass my resolution to help thousands of people who suffer from human right issues around the world. Lastly I would like to thank you for giving me this great experience that I will never forget. It was great representing the country of love, art, passion, fairness, and as much as I could say. It could go on forever. Merci .. Vive la France!

Statements of the Delegates
Ambassador and Disarmament, Nour Ghadanfar
Dear Mr. President: First of all, I, the Slovakian (Click Slovakia to read the officer's briefing book) ambassador, would just like to thank you for giving me the honor of representing our fine country in the prestigious UN. It has been a great experience for me and I’m sure to all of my colleagues. Now, let me just tell you how and what I did in the UN. On the first day, I lobbied and merged with Indonesia and became the main submitter of a resolution. Sadly, on the second day it was not debated, but I did not let that stop me. I got up and spoke about 3 times, and asked many points of information. I even made the delegation of India apologize to me personally, to the delegation of Pakistan for insulting it, and to the disarmament commission for wasting its time. On the third day, there was a crisis involving Slovakia. It was that a Slovakian group bombed the Queen of Denmark’s Palace. I made a policy statement saying that the group that bombed the palace was not directly linked to the government, and that it was a rebellious Slovakian group. All in all, it was a very helpful conference, and an experience I will never forget. Sincerely, Nour Ghadanfar
Environment, Hamad Al-Sager
Good day sir, my name is Hamad and I realized a lot of things during this years MUN KSAA conference. One of the things I realized, as I was serving under the delegation of Slovakia, was that the conference was too realistic. After I wrote my resolution and merged it. The approval council approved it. But I sadly note that during the debating, my resolution was by far one of the least effective in the environmental commission. But I greatly regret that my resolution received 33 votes for, but 50 against. I hope I can do better at the next conference and it was a great honor to represent Slovakia.
Human Rights, Khalid Al-Mutawa:
Hello sir, my name is Khalid al Mutawa. And in the KSAA event I served as Slovakia and was in the human rights commission. I wrote a resolution about the lack of progress in rights of women. My resolution goes over 30 signatures. And sadly it failed by 2 votes. I kept to Slovakia's policy and tried to be allies with Hungary. But sadly again, Hungary ignored its policy and went against me. It has been an honor being a representative of Slovakia. Those were the best times of my life and I will never forget them. Sincerely: the delegation of Slovakia Khalid Al-Mutawa
Security Council: Sara Abu Sha’ar
Dear Mr. President, In all my life, I was never truly able to express my innermost feelings about the world like how I was able to do it as a Slovak Security Council member. It was one of the must useful things I’ve ever done with my life. Although at fist, I felt like MUN was taking TOO of my time much, it was overwhelming and overwhelming this 3-day event made all those hours, all those days, and all those weeks that I spent working WORTH IT! Now let me explain to you some of the wonderful accomplishments that I achieved in the Security Council throughout this conference. I was able to pass a couple of clauses regarding the reformation of peacekeeping operations, I was able to pass a couple of clauses regarding the North Korea issue, which I had only came to learn about on the second day of the event. I was able to scream at the top of my lungs and share with all the members of the SC how I felt by some of the most troubling issues of our world. And finally I was recognized as one of the most active members of the SC! Thank you, for giving me one of the best experiences of my life, Sarah Abushaar
Social: Ala’a Al-Shamlan
Hello Mr. President, I am Alaa al-Shamlan, I’ve represented Slovakian in the Social Committee at ASK conference. This is my first year in MUN, and my first Conference. Successfully I became a co- submitted, although I could’ve been a main, I’m fine by that. It was an honor to be Slovakia, although I only got to speak once or twice, but I at least got to express my feelings toward the crises and some of the resolution debated. I actually experienced a very nice 3 days, filled with hard work and suffering sleepiness. I've seen how people act toward things they don’t like, and how they are enthusiasm all the time. Even though we’ve worked very hard for the last hundred of days, I'm sure we became better than anyone else~~~: D
This is my annual attempt to rate the schools. This is not to imply
that KSAA in any way should function as a "school competition," but rather
my belief that in real life countries compete for influence and power. Thus,
a "school ranking" reflects a cumulative of the various countries. In these rankings
I consider quality of countries, size of delegations, resolutions debated, and
number of student officers. Without any more apologies, I offer the
following. Let the ranting begin:
1 ASK 80
2 KES 33
3 NES 29
4 UAS 29
5 BBS 29
6 AIS 20
7 ACA 15
8 AAG 12
9 BSK 10
10 GES 10
