In AAGIAC 2005 SC event, I represented Benin (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) in forum 1. Generally, for all of our hard work (at BBS), I do not think that we got our due respect. That is because no one was taking the event seriously, to them it was all about declaring war and doing such things that the GA cannot do. The event was ridiculous on some of the delegate’s parts, however, our chair was a great chair and she was serious and at the same time she did give a chance for some humor to a certain degree. Nonetheless, Benin’s clause was not debated as the crisis situation took most of the debate time. The SG’s idea, yes it did add humor; however, some delegates were taking it too far and making up so-called resolutions. Fortunately, the forum I was in was fairly serious compared to other forums. We passed a few clauses, most of which were passed as friendly clauses. Being Benin I was able to represent the only African country in that forum that remained behind its policy.

During the AAG Security Council Conference, the issue on the agenda was the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict, and I represented China (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book). The session started with both the delegates of Russia and Eritrea arguing about evidence regarding the issue. The Chair brushed this matter aside before tensions rose and problems developed. In addition, the USA began by blaming numerous countries, including China, for adding to this already intricate conflict and delaying probable solutions through numerous actions. After a series of brawls and accusations between China and USA, the council concluded that the USA was just as guilty as any other country if not much more, and China is in fact innocent from USA’s accusations.
The first clause presented in order to solve the issue, was by the Russian delegate. The clause called for negotiations between the involved parties (Eritrea, Ethiopia, and the 5 permanent members). This clause was very similar to the one to be presented by China, thus China stood by the clause and supported it as it passed with a majority vote. The crisis situation involved China’s safety, which was being threatened by a sovereign dictatorship group located in newly independent California. Given that, China and Russia submitted a joint clause that allowed their intervention into the USA, and to send troops to get rid of this group, and re-establish California as a state in the USA. A final clause regarding the Eritrea – Ethiopia conflict was presented as a "friendly clause" by Eritrea. This clause passed and became part of the two-clause resolution, which will end this conflict. The forum was able to solve both the issue of Eritrea and Ethiopia, and the crisis situation with minutes to spare until the conclusion of the AAG conference.

In AAGIAC 2005, I represented Denmark (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) in the Security Council. For some reason, many delegates in the forum were determined to declare war and cause chaos. Since Denmark is a neutral and peaceful country, I represented Denmark firmly and opposed their declares for war. Even though all the students from BBS worked really hard for this event and put much effort in their work, other "delegates" disgraced the whole purpose and initiative of MUN.

In the recent MUN conference held at the American Academy for Girls I was the representative of the state of Eritrea (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) to the United Nations Security Council. I was called to represent our view on the border conflict with Ethiopia which has been become a prolonged problem that has not been solved for many years. In the United Nations Security Council we obtained everything we wanted and even the great powers clamored to get our approval. I believe that our role in the conference was positive where we, for our size and problems, helped in bringing much needed aid and help to our great state.
France: Mariam Dashti and Zaid Al-Marzouq

On the 4th of December I went to the AAG Security Council event representing France (Click here to read the Zaid's briefing book and here to read Mariam's) on behalf the Al-Bayan Bilingual School. Our work on the conference has been achieved during a 2 week deadline that was assigned by Dr. Dan. When I entered the room or my commission the room was quite small, remembering that last year's event had larger rooms. Then as I sat next to my delegation's placard and looked to the left then to the right, until I realized that no one was in the commission except for the chair and the BBS delegates. The other delegates were obviously late. When the commission was all seated with all of its five permanent members, the chair started the debate with a clause submitted by me, France. The clause had extreme opposition from the delegate of the UK who did not seem to know his policy and was humorous rather than demanding and submitting clauses. The clause passed and after that Russia submitted a clause that was on the verge of loosing all of its votes, but France amended the clause to its benefit, which was obvious but the clause passed.
After several minutes the SG came in with an emergency situation, which stated that England and Brazil might go to war because of a soccer match, and California was annexed from the US by a dictatorship. The first clause submitted for the emergency situation was obviously by France and it passed, the second one was also France and it passed. Until the UK finally decided to join us and submitted a clause on behalf the UK and the US which failed by an overwhelming majority. At the end the debate got out of control because of the UK's and the US's quite unrealistic imagination. The Permanent 5 members also had an ad hock meeting, which was inefficient and I tried to come up with a solution but the other didn’t want to take this seriously. At the end the whole resolution was French even the crisis resolution was French, but the overall the conference was quite lame.
Greece, the Hellenic Republic: Ibrahim Abu Saleh

As the member of the UN Security Council, Greece (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) intended
to make a responsible contribution to implementation of the outcome of the Council's session,
in order to achieve secure peace and stability in Africa. Greece saw that an
agreement of cease fire between two countries was vital.
This agreement was previously done but violated when a hostile fight
went on between the neighboring soldiers.
These two countries were not only facing border dispute, they were also
facing humanitarian crisis facing both countries, so I urged all
countries here at this session to unite in order to achieve a
solution to this damaging problem.

This year's AAG event was an exceptional event. It was full of laughter and fun. We, including Japan (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) started off the first half hour by debating the actual issue concerning Ethiopia and Eritrea; however, the minute the Secretary General walked into the room, we kept on debating the crisis for the rest of the day. The crisis may have seemed ridiculous at first, but with time we realized that it was the solutions we came up with were ridiculous and not the crisis. There was a clause that suggested to allow James Bond, Bruce Lee, Jacky Chan, and the Fantastic Four stop the terrorists and have Disneyland open for free and the US would pay the expenses. This clause was actually passed and made into a resolution. All in all, we had a good time and a good laugh.

During the AAG event, I represented the Republic of Philippines in forum 3 (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) . Delegates in Forum 3 debated the Ethiopia and Eritrea issue. This forum was unusual because delegates were providing useless solutions. One of the clauses states that the UK troops will enter the US and will have full access to Disneyland. Also, these troops will enter a nightclub and have some French fries. The strongest delegate (US) surrendered and declared that she will hand her power to the delegate of UK. Although this forum was a mess, it was fun. Truly this event was a one life experience, therefore, I’m proud for attending that event.
The International Red Cross: Yousef Khalaf

The Red Cross (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book) wishes to help the people. That's why the Red Cross proposed starting a water distribution program to all the affected people because there is a shortage of fresh water. Also, the Red Cross suggested setting up buildings where people of Ethiopian origin in Eritrea and vise versa, could stay and be protected and so they could enjoy their right of protection by the third and fourth Geneva Conventions. The Red Cross also proposed rehabilitating houses that have been damaged by the conflict so that people can have a place to live in.
Romania: Bader Al-Omairi

In this event I felt as if the debate didn’t involved Romania Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book), the debate was only between BBS students. I got bored of the debate and the event crises were lame and UN real, the UK would never have a war with Brazil over a soccer match. It was even lamer the fact that the SG might have been biased towards his school, as well as a form might a clause that super hero committee to stop the terrorist.
The Russian Federation: Abdullah Al-Mdaires

Russia (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book).
stood as one of many democratic nations that faces problems
that were caused by many different parties that not only
affected Russia but all the world. Our world today is
the world were there is insecurity in any spot on earth,
we face many important issues, countries facing each
other just for a small peace of land.
As we always stand with peace Russia encouraged
all countries to help solve the Ethiopian and Eritrean
conflict. We requested that the UN does some action.
We wish that countries stood firm and helped in any
way to help these countries.
The United States: Abdulaziz Al-Bahar

Unfortunately, one of the events that has obstructed
our quest for peace is the Ethiopian-Eritrean conflict.
Both sides had been plaguing each other, displacing
and slaughtering each other’s people and mutually
disintegrating their economies.
The USA (Click here to read the ambassador's briefing book).
stood before this council wishing for a viable
resolution to this ongoing conflict. We
stand firmly by the United Nations Security Council
in every decision it made that would bring this
conflict to a peaceful end.
